European General Aviation 2010

The situation is grave but not hopeless - this would probably have been the assessment by Churchill and Adenauer. And that is the short formula which best describes the current situation of GA in Europe. New projections of leading market observers of the industry make it more than clear how extremely rapid changes in the development of aviation can be and how unreliable such forecasts actually are. On the other hand insiders also... more

Flying a real, renewable fuel

Watching the clear fluid being poured into my airplane’s fuel tank was disconcerting to say the least. We all knowthat 100LL is blue, of course. And instead of the familiar smell of leaded avgas, this stuff carried the odor of a danklocker room, or a musty basement. For more than five years, Swift Enterprises, a small start-up firm founded by Purdue University Professor John Rusek and largely staffed by grads, has been designing and producing its own formof renewable fuel meant as an unleaded replacement for 100LL. (AEROMARKT has repeatedly introduced this company and its product to our

Dream Destinations

The world lies at the feet of pilots. For European private pilots at least the "old world". Almost every destination in Europe can be reached by General Aviation aircraft, even with smaller sports and cruise aircraft - assuming you have a few days time. Over 2,800 airports are available for General Aviation pilotsin Europe, and even jets can reach over 1,000 airports. That is by far more than most pilots can fly to in the course of a lifetime. And many times the number of destinations ... more

fliegen lernen

"So you wanna be a pilot ... ?"

Have you ever dreamt about being a pilot when you look up to the sky on a clear day and see an airplane buzzing along between the clouds? Well – dream no longer. Start your pilot training now! It's easier than you think.

Every year, thousands of private individuals take flying lessons to become pilots. They do so according to their personal preferences regarding their favourite type of aircraft: gliders, ultralights, or heavier powered aircraft. If you ask these people about what caused them to pick up flight training, most will tell you that "flying is fun", or that "flying is a meaningful leisure activity", or "because flying is a fast and comfortable way to get to your destination".

Flying is indeed very efficient. Many trips that will last a day or more by car can be covered easily in half that time or even less in an airplane.

The International Counsel of Aircraft Owner and Pilot Associations (IAOPA) provides a website which will guide you to your national AOPA. Click here to get to this site, then just click on the country where you live, and contact your local AOPA to learn all about how to start flying in your country.
