MT-Propeller’s 3-blade prop for Piper PA-28
Now also for US-registered aircraft
Atting, February 2026 - MT-Propeller Entwicklung GmbH has received the FAA STC SA1281IB for the installation of the 3-blade natural composite propeller MTV-12-D/188-53( ) on the Piper PA-28R(T)-201T powered by the engines TSIO-360-F or TSIO-360-FB
This installation is already certified by EASA STC 10082080.
MT-Propeller’s 3-blade prop MTV-12 may now be installed in US-registered Piper PA-28 aircraft, as well.
MT-Propeller Vice President Martin Albrecht says, that the installation features the following advantages:
- Best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operations
- Bonded on stainless steel leading edge for best erosion protection of the blades
- Increased cruise performance by 2-3 kts
- Up to 8 kg (17.637 lb) less weight than the original propeller
Due to the smaller diameter the MTV-12 MT-Propeller for the Piper PA-28R(T)-201T has more ground clearance for less blade tip erosion and FODs.
The long-time proven MT-Propeller natural composite blades have no life limitation and are repairable in case of a FOD.
About MT-Propeller
MT-Propeller is the world leading natural composite propeller manufacturer with 30 certified propeller models from 2-blade to 7-blade hydraulically controlled variable pitch propeller, for engines producing up to 5000hp, and 2-blade to 4-blade electrically controlled variable pitch propeller, for engines producing up to 350hp as well as two blade fixed pitch propellers.
The long time proven, high performance, light weight and durable MT-Propellers can be used on aircraft with piston engines and propeller turbines, as well as on airships, wind tunnels and hovercraft. MT-Propellers can be developed for nearly every aircraft type from motor gliders to regional airliners.
Fulfilling the highest certification requirements, they are also supplemental type certified on Part 25 aircraft.
No active AD, this is a safety record no other manufacturer has achieved so far.
The MT-Propeller fleet is approaching a total of 125 000+ propeller blades on 34 500+ propeller systems in operation and can look back on accumulated 200 million flight hours in over 45 years.
With the best damage tolerance and repairability, MT-Propeller has the lowest operational cost of any certified composite propeller manufacturer.
MT-Propeller is holder of more than 230 STCs worldwide and OEM supplier for more than 90% of the European Aircraft Industry as well as 45% of the US Aircraft Industry.
With the longest industry TBO of 4500 hours or 6 years for the 5-bladed turbo prop MT-Propeller has proven reliability over years.
A factory certified network of 62 service centers provides best service and maintenance all over the world.
