Gliding community back at AERO 2027
Sailplane manufacturers with large presence at the show
Glider flying will once again be prominently represented with its own exhibition area, the AERO Gliding Expo.
The complete world of gliding in Hall B5
Hall B5, as the new home of the gliding community at AERO, will offer visitors and exhibitors an ideal environment. A new, enhanced concept – which centralizes gliding activities in the new hall – will make for an efficient trade show experience. The German Aero Club (DAeC), as the national air sports association, will also be represented there with its own stand. Technical lectures and presentations on gliding, held as part of the AERO Conferences on the stage in the nearby East Foyer of the exhibition center, will complement the AERO Gliding Expo in Hall B5. As a result, next year the entire B-axis of the exhibition grounds will be dedicated to air sports, ultralights, and gliding.
Tobias Bretzel, Show Director AERO at fairnamic GmbH, says: “Gliding has been an integral part of the AERO trade show since its inception. We are very pleased to offer the gliding community an optimal environment with our enhanced concept in Hall B5. Hall B5 is dedicated entirely to gliding. That’s why I recommend that anyone interested in an exhibition space in the hall register now to secure their spot.”
Tilo Holighaus, CEO of Schempp-Hirth, says: “We look forward to presenting our developments at AERO 2027 in Friedrichshafen, meeting customers, prospective clients, and business partners, and exchanging new ideas and perspectives with friends of air sports. The evolution of gliding is fascinating and now enables performance and flying experiences that were barely imaginable just a few years ago. AERO offers an excellent opportunity to engage in dialogue and to shape the future of our inspiring sport together.”
AERO 2027 showcases the full diversity of general aviation, air sports, and business aviation. It is a globally unique information and communication platform for the industry.

On September 30, 2026, a very special anniversary was celebrated in a relaxed atmosphere—complete with grilled sausages and drinks—at the Osnabrück-Atterheide airfield (EDWO). The guest of honor was a still-sprightly elderly lady from the Cessna "140" series, which had been certified for flight exactly 80 years earlier in Wichita, Kansas (USA).
