MT Propeller opens three new production buildings

News

After a construction period of about two years, MT-Propeller has now opened three new buildings (the three huge buildings in the middle of the picture) with a total of about 8,000 sqm (86,000 sqft), in order to further increase its production and service capacities due to the continuous growth in orders and new developments.

After a construction period of about two years, MT-Propeller have now opened three new buildings (the three huge buildings in the middle of the picture).

In the newly built production facilities, all metal parts for MT-Propellers can now also be manufactured at the Headquarters, providing short transport distances and greater flexibility. A new aircraft hangar provides additional space for direct installation of propellers on customer aircraft, and the new buildings also increase sales, spare parts and shipping capacity. Additional areas have also been created for the training of the MT-Propeller staff and the company's worldwide service stations.

In total, MT-Propeller now operates six buildings with a total of 15,000 sqm (161,000 sqft) at Straubing Airport, plus the composite blade production facility (4 km) 6 miles from the airport with a further 5,000 sqm (54,000 sqft).

When Gerd Mühlbauer started the success story of MT-Propeller in 1981 with 5 employees, the company was located in one small airport building which is still part of the company’s buildings today. Over the last 43 years, the company has grown steadily from a small business to a world leader in high performance aircraft propellers with 280 employees worldwide, the headquarters in Germany and additional sites in Czech Republic and the USA.

The key to MT-Propeller's success, is owned and operated by Aviators for Aviators and this comes with a continuous investment in innovative new developments by its engineers - most of whom are pilots themselves - the company’s own test pilots, many long-experienced employees who use and pass on their experience and knowledge in the development and construction of the ‚Propellers Made in Germany’, continuous training of all employees and highest quality standards.

MT-Propeller serves the General Aviation market with over 220 propeller STC’s for aircraft models ranging from motor gliders to regional airliners. The product range extends from 2 to 7 blade propellers for aircraft up to 5,000 hp to airships, hovercraft and wind tunnels. Over 33,000 MT propeller systems with over 115,000 natural composite blades are in service. To date, MT Propellers have accumulated over 180 MIO flight hours.

The celebration ended with an impressive fireworks display by PyroArtists GmbH from Hünxe in Germany. (link to the video of the PyroArtists' performance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPvf-9aGfBs.)
